Meet me halfway

We are halfway there!!! Christophe just finished his 3rd chemo treatment, still 3 to go!

His last chemo treatment was delayed for 2 weeks because the quality of his blood was not good enough to proceed. At one hand it was a disappointment, on the other hand you can’t speed up the process. You have to accept it like it is. But, there is also positive news : The neurologist decide to lower the dosis of the chemo because the doctors assume that the tumor is less aggressive than foreseen, which is fantastic news!!

The entire chemo treatment feels like an eternity, actually the entire process… it’s tough and the road is full with ups & downs. We enjoy every day and it’s going really well, seeing the circumstances of course.

The alternative way

In the meantime we continued our search for alternative treatments, books and information. We have found fantastic people who shared information, insights, contacts, recipes with us and much much more. We don’t want to stop with the ‘regular’ treatment, no we just want to know what we can do besides the chemo treatment. It all sounds so easy but unfortunately it’s not . Where do you start? Which source can you rely on? Therefore our search (this is the work of Christophe, the engineer) is not only important for us but for many others as well. It’s incredible that so many people are diagnosed with cancer who have similar questions, and can’t find answers. Therefore our outcomes will be published in a second book (besides my personal story) where people who do have cancer, can find tips, books, people and much more. Information that should be accessible for all of us, and therefore we want to share our journey and findings with you. To be clear, this is an idea of my publisher, not from a sponsor or pharmaceutical company ;-). This is SOOOOO necessary and incredibly it doesn’t exist yet. If you go to Paris you will find 1000 books, blogs and what to do in Paris? What if you are diagnosed with a brain tumor, what are the things you can do or need to do? It’s not there!

Moving house

In the meantime the moving date came rapidly closer…. And as the housing market in the Netherlands is going mad, where do you find an affordable house, including furniture (that you like) in the north of the Netherlands? And people don’t move abroad or will travel around the world nowadays. Yes, it was our choice to rent our own house for 3 years in Belgium (no, we don’t want to go back, we like it here). Our situation is far from ideal to move, to pack but it’s like that! If you know everything upfront life would be boring, right? Miracles do exist (we know all about it) and we found a lovely house very close by the sea, really unique. We are so happy and looking forward to next month where you will find us in Egmond aan Zee, yes only 150 metres from the beach! The ideal place for inspiration to finish our books and to proceed with Christophe’s treatment. It was always our dream to live near the sea. Never stop dreaming.

Work…

I know that many of my colleagues, industry friends will loose or already have lost their job or even their business. And not only in the Netherlands, worldwide the meetings & events industry is in pain and suffering. And I really feel sorry for all of you, and of course it hurts. Therefore it feels strange to say that my business is growing. Huh??? Yes! And I’m grateful to say that I employ others, and some of them have lost their jobs due to Covid-19 which is extremely rewarding. Despite it’s not a fulltime job but to have paid assignment and a project in the pipeline creates hope and positivity. Of course the growth of my company doesn’t come overnight, more than 3 years of hard work is behind the idea and concept. And I can say in the beginning it was hard and I had to tackle many challenges, but it finally paid off. And never thought that Covid-19 would cause the growth I was aiming for.

We are looking forward to our move. It feels like a new fresh start. Are you in the surroundings of Egmond aan Zee? Always welcome for a cup of tea!
