Radiopoezen

As a Dutch you may have heard of tompoezen? Never heard of the word radipoezen? It’s a word Christophe created during his radiation procedure. For those who know him, he has a lot of respect for women, so don’t be offended. The ladies, better said, the nurses at the radiation department were very kind and good looking, and he came up with the new word : radiopoes. If you want to hear the entire story, give him a call I would say. It was for him the reason to get out of his bed during the radiation process, something to look forward during those tough weeks:-).

In times where the world turned upside down, the world of Christophe didn’t change that much, it actually improved. When we just heard the news, we were more ‘skeptical’ about the future and in the meantime we have adapted our vision and are talking about 2021 and further.

Er komt een man bij de radiopoes

We have finished part II (part I was the surgery) 15 days of radiation and 21 days of chemo and it’s going well considering the circumstances. At the end of the month we will move to part III the chemo which will last until the end of the year. And with that said, which means that we will be in lockdown until the end of the year; WHAT?? Yes, because as long as there’s no anti virus, Christophe will remain vulnerable which means for me as well, no visits, no presentations, no travel, no business meetings…. How hard this news is, it’s not the end of the world. I sincerely hope that I can embrace my family and (industry) friends next year. And going back on stage next year. Our priority is to keep Christophe safe and healthy!!

In these times where you want to escape all the shit, the challenges on a private level, business level, just to have a cup of tea on a terrace, is not possible. We both were used traveling and to stay at home all the time is a challenge to keep motivated, it’s far from easy. And besides the symptoms of all the treatments and medications… and experiencing extreme high and lows. And the search for information, a huge challenge!

The number of cards, bouquets of flowers, drawings from children and other items which are possible to send over by mail, fantastic, you have no idea what it meant for us. THANK YOU! It made us laugh and cry. Christophe is very emotional due to chemo (or medications… or a combination of all the shit together) and we cry a lot. Sometimes from happiness, sometimes we know we still have a long road ahead of us because we are not even halfway. At the end of this year he will have his final ‘MRI’ scan to see the results of all the treatments of his rare tumor. Because even the doctors know very little of this specific type of tumor. Keep your fingers crossed.

Business wise; I’m busy!! Yes, I know my work has been a relief for me, an escape. I started 2020 with a fully booked agenda almost until the end of the year travelling all around the world to an empty agenda with no leads, no bookings but I still managed to realise a few new projects :

  • Became a mentor and I’m coaching a lovely lady in the meetings & events industry; I really enjoy it!

  • Set up a series of weekly interviews together with Alessia (thank you!) and we are building a loyal fanclub, fantastic

  • Created 2 new partnerships with passionate people from the industry and beyond

  • Received 2 new leads :-) yes business will be back soon!! I remain positive :-)

And moreover, the most important thing is, today!!!! I have decided to say yes to a new project, to write a book about my personal journey since we know that Christophe is diagnosed with a brain tumor. My aim is to become the female version of Kluun :-) It’s just to give inside in my life in these special circumstances and times. And Christophe already created the title: Er komt een man bij de radiopoes…..

TBC soon …
